Established in La Rochelle, Sunny Side of the Doc has become a major international marketplace for coproduction, buying and selling of high-quality documentary projects, programmes and new narrative experiences. The event was born under this optimistic and international name in 1990 around three main missions:

• Foster the European and international circulation of documentary programs
• Encourage international co-production and the development of projects around invaluable networking opportunities
• Inform and train professionals on key market trends, media economics, technological changes, content creation in the streaming era etc.
With the Sunny Lab (2014) then PiXii Festival (2017), a mission of supporting audiovisual and narrative innovation of all documentary genres has been added through greater attention to emerging talents and the structuration of a market dedicated to immersive works and experiences.

Sunny Side of the Doc has successfully developed the tools and services likely to achieve its founding objectives and to benefit French, European and international professionals (60 nationalities represented). After the positive results of the first Connected Edition in 2020, organizers now provide a hybrid offer combining face-to-face, online and year-round passport, thought as a real opportunity to expand the number and quality of industry attendees.
